If determined to be true, this would go against previous statements made by President Trump and lends more credibility to the allegations put forward by Lev Parnas, a former business associate of Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani who has since been indicted in NY, during broadcast interviews in recent days.
House investigators have been working to document an nearly yearlong effort on the part of Parnas and Giuliani to have Yovanovitch removed from her post.
"Although I understand, everyone understands, that I served at the pleasure of the president, I was nevertheless incredulous that the USA government chose to remove an ambassador based, as far as I can tell, on unfounded and false claims by people with clearly questionable motives", Yovanovitch told a panel of House investigators in October.
This audio recording serves as a major blow to Trump's continued insistence that he knows neither Parnas or Fruman.
In response to a question about the recording's authenticity, White House communications director Stephanie Grisham provided Newsweek with the following statement: "Every President in our history has had the right to place people who support his agenda and his policies within his Administration".

Wuhan bans cars, Hong Kong closes schools as virus spreads
Australia on Saturday confirmed its first case of the virus, a man who arrived in Melbourne from China a week ago. It will be modeled on a SARS hospital that was built in Beijing in just six days during the 2003 SARS outbreak.
The audio shared by ABC News tonight shows Parnas apparently saying they need to get Yovanovitch out of her position, saying, "She's basically walking around telling everybody, 'Wait, he's gonna get impeached, just wait.'" And then Trump apparently responded with those above remarks. "Get her out tomorrow".
Both Parnas and Fruman have been indicted on federal charges including violating campaign finance laws.
President Trump asked Ukrainian President Zelensky during a July phone call to investigate the Bidens' ties to Burisma and it jumpstarted the impeachment inquiry against him. They have pleaded not guilty. "Do it." Trump has repeatedly denied knowing the henchmen, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, going as far as to suggest they are "con men" "hangers-on" and "groupies" who got photographed with him at fundraisers.
"I don't know Parnas other than I guess I had pictures taken, which I do with thousands of people", Trump said last week. The Trump tapes and reports of Pompeo's meltdown emerged even as Democratic House managers wound up their presentation in the impeachment trial in the US Senate, leaving the floor for Republican defence starting on Saturday.
"Rep. Garcia explained how the president's insinuations about the Bidens are baseless, anticipating that the president's lawyers would focus on the Bidens, and Representative Schiff discredited the absurd idea that President Trump cares deeply about corruption in foreign countries", Schumer said. "But I just met him". The second article of impeachment accuses President Trump of obstructing Congress by refusing to turn over documents or allow officials to testify in the House probe.
Republicans hold 53 of the 100 Senate seats and a two-thirds majority is required to convict and remove a president.
