"Google is a stock that won't get you fired", said Kevin Landis, a portfolio manager at Firsthand Funds who hasn't added to his current Alphabet position since the first quarter of 2019. The Silicon Valley group joins Apple, which first reached USD1 trillion (Sh100tr) in 2018 and on Thursday showed a valuation of some USD1.38 trillion (Sh139tr); and Microsoft, now valued at some USD1.26 trillion (Sh127tr). Chasing the two public cloud leaders has at times dragged down Alphabet's share price. That could leave it exposed to volatile price swings if sentiment suddenly changes.
However, it appears incidents of this kind are no cause for concern amongst investors.
