TMZ reports that drummer Joey Kramer is suing the band for allegedly not letting him back into the band after he took time off for temporary disability from minor injuries suffered in 2019. Other band members and their lawyers will likely attempt to disparage my playing and claim that I am unable to play the drums right now. The band is being celebrated this weekend by the Recording Academy, first as the recipients of MusiCares' Person of the Year Award, followed by a performance during the Grammys telecast.
All another time, Kramer claims this has never came about to any of the opposite guys in Aerosmith's 50-year historical previous ... all of whom at one time or one other needed to step away for a time.
It concludes, "Compounding this, he chose to file a lawsuit on the Friday night of the holiday weekend preceding the Grammys with total disregard for what is our limited window to prepare to perform these important events". Joey has now waited until the last moment to accept our invitation, when we unfortunately have no time for necessary rehearsals during Grammys week. I did everything they asked - jumped through hoops and made both a recording of playing along solo to a recent live recording of the band - one I had never heard before, and that process was videotaped. "We are bonded together by some distance more than our time on stage".
Sources close to Aerosmith tell TMZ that Kramer has been given multiple opportunities to return to the band, but his audition was not up to the Aerosmith's standard. I'm being deprived of the replacement to be known alongside with my peers, for our collective, lifetime contributions to the track industry.
I hope our fans can understand that all I'm trying to do is get back to playing with the band that they love - and that's Aerosmith with all five original members.

Antonio Brown has police called to his home for another incident
Hollywood police told the same reporter that they did not believe they were investigating a domestic situation. TMZ Sports is reporting that Brown is not in custody, but the news agency described it as an "active scene".
Kramer has been a member of Aerosmith since the band formed in 1970. To be removed from my rightful place on stage to celebrate our success - a success that acknowledges my own life's work, is just plain wrong.
Kramer, 69, claims that after just a few months off past year - during which time he was made to pay for his own replacement - he was informed that he'd have to audition to rejoin the group, to ensure he'd be able to "play at an appropriate level". The drummer also claims he has dealt with "significant reprecussions" as a result of the stress, which caused him to end up in the hospital last November.
"Being prohibited from playing with a band that I have given 50 years of my life to supporting is beyond devastating", Kramer said.
Kramer wants a court to restore him to his seat at the drum kit immediately before he misses out on a historic year with Aerosmith.
