The party, however, seems confused since former Union Minister and senior Sena leader Arvind Sawant said that they will support the Bill in Rajya Sabha since they will not be playing different roles.
Questioning the timing of the Bill, Sena said, "There is no dearth of problems in India now but still we are inviting new ones such as CAB".

Responding to the commission's statement that the USA should impose sanctions on Home Minister Amit Shah and other leaders of the Narendra Modi government if the bill is passed by both houses of Parliament, MEA Official Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said the USCIRF has "little knowledge and no locus standi" on the matter.
