With the unfortunate news surrounding Darren Sproles being out for the remainder of the season, the Philadelphia Eagles turned to a familiar face in Jay Ajayi after agreeing to bring the running back on board Friday to add some depth to the position.
This season, the Eagles' have cut up the majority of their workload at functioning again amongst Jordan Howard and rookie Miles Sanders.
This will be the third workout/visit for the veteran running back, who was rehabbing from a torn ACL that he suffered last season with the Eagles.
The other two teams that worked out Ajayi was the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals.
Ajayi is set to visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reports. Ajayi gained 592 yards with four touchdowns in 11 games over the past 1 1/2 seasons with the Eagles and has 2,516 yards and 13 career rushing TDs over four seasons with the Miami Dolphins and Eagles.

He was the flawless complement/fit in Philadelphia's running back by committee, which also featured LeGarrette Blount and Corey Clement.
What made this move even more exciting to hear about was the fact that Ajayi could suit up as early as this weekend when Philadelphia takes on the New England Patriots, who will be well rested after their bye week as well.
Sproles missed Thursday's practice with what was labeled as a quadriceps injury, but it appears he was actually dealing with the hip issue.
