According to Deadline, Sony is looking to add Maximum Carnage character Shriek to the second Venom installment.
Instead of evolving from Spider-Man, as per comic book tradition, the 2018 movie had its alien symbiote manifest independently - Spider-Man wasn't part of the story at all.
It's still unclear who will star as Shriek, but the character has previously been depicted as Cletus' (AKA Carnage) love interest. She was a drug dealer and a mutant with the ability to manipulate sound. As such, as the news broke today, sellers listed multiple copies of Spider-Man Unlimited No. 1 on eBay, obviously hoping for a big rush. Tom Hardy sent those rumors into overdrive when he teased some kind of MCU crossover on IG when he posted a pic of himself decked out in the Iron Spider custom Spider-Man rocked in Avengers: Infinity War.

Though a Sony spokesman declined to comment, the casting process for Shriek is reportedly underway, with the field of candidates expanding as filmmakers are "looking mostly at unknowns right now".
Principal photography has yet to begin on Venom 2, but we already have news on another new character.
Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams are back on board to play Eddie Brock and Anne Weying respectively, with Harrelson reprising his role of Carnage. Followers wished to see Peter Parker from Holland run into Eddie Brock from Hardy's Venom final 12 months, but it surely was to not be.
