A spokesman for the family of a British teenager who was killed in a auto crash involving an American diplomat's wife says the young man's parents have been invited to a meeting at the White House Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs Sacoolas, whose husband Jonathan worked as USA intelligence official at the base, claimed diplomatic immunity and left the UK.
The 19-year-old's mother, Charlotte Charles, and the teenager's father, Tim Dunn, told a press conference in NY that they felt let down by the decision to allow Ms Sacoolas - the motorist whose vehicle allegedly hit the teenager - to flee after the collision outside RAF Croughton in Northamptonshire. Dani Isdale reports from NY.
Media identified her husband as Jonathan Sacoolas, who worked at RAF Croughton, near the town of Brackley, which is home to the 422nd Air Base Group.
"Having said that, as it's almost seven weeks now since we lost our boy, sorry just doesn't cut it".
The father Harry Dunn, Tim Dunn, leaves the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, where the family members met British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, Wednesday Oct. 9, 2019.
"A spokesperson for the Dunn family affirmed before in the address which they" do not understand the stage" in assembly Sacoolas - even though her request made through her attorney - unless she'd consent to do this in the united kingdom.
The mother of three said she was "terribly, terribly sorry for that tragic mistake".

Climate change in focus as royal couple visits Chitral
Many on social media and in the fashion industry had been hoping she would don the outfit, which Princess Diana had worn during visits.
They hope media exposure will put pressure on the U.S. government to force Mrs Sacoolas to return to the UK.
It came as Harry's father told of the final words he said to his teenage son as he lay fatally injured after being hit by a vehicle.
Harry Dunn's family are asking the government to turn over all documents it has about the decision to grant diplomatic immunity to the suspect in the teenager's death.
"So she's asking me to call off the media and I went back and said "actually, I don't think this is helpful to us - it's essential".
Commenting on the discussions he had been having with Mrs Sacoolas's lawyer since the offer of a meeting, Mr Seiger told PA: "It was such a warm approach, but we thought, we're not just going to go and hope she says that she'll send her back". Her lawyers said she would continue to co-operate with the police and the investigation.
"She and her family left the United Kingdom approximately three weeks after the accident, after they and the US authorities determined that it would be hard for the couple and their children to remain in the small Croughton community under these tragic circumstances".
Meanwhile, Mrs Sacoolas's legal representative Amy Jeffress, from law firm Arnold and Porter, said: "Anne is devastated by this tragic accident".
