Gay rights campaigners in Reading, England, are celebrating after a protest campaign seemingly led to the closure of the UK's first and only Chick-Fil-A restaurant, all over its American founder's supposed anti-LGBT views.
Reading Pride says in a statement: "In conversation with The Oracle, we have been told that Chick-fil-A will not trade beyond its current six-month pilot period". As part of the protest, activists stood outside The Oracle shopping center and held signs and chanted at customers.
Chick-fil-A declined to reply on the report to TIME's query as as to if the corporate had been planning to increase the lease after the six month pilot interval.
A spokesman for The Oracle declined to provide a comment on the issue to the Times. "I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude that thinks we have the audacity to redefine what marriage is all about". We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families.

A spokesman for the restaurant stated that the six-month lease was always meant to be temporary, as the company looks to expand internationally. Founded in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1967, the company operates more than 2,300 restaurants in 47 states.
