US health officials have said there may be more than one cause for the outbreak of the illness and that they do not see a meaningful drop in the number of new cases.
State officials on Wednesday reported 10 new likely cases of vaping-associated pulmonary injury.
"We are saddened by the news of these deaths, and we are troubled that so many Minnesotans continue to suffer in this outbreak", Minnesota Commissioner of Health Jan Malcolm said in a statement.
That's an increase from last week, when there were 1,299 cases of vaping-related lung injuries.
With these additional fatalities, the national death toll has now reached 30, although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has only confirmed 26 so far.
The agency is scheduled to reveal its latest vaping illness and death statistics later on Thursday. "We will continue to monitor and investigate reports of illnesses and urge everyone to consider not using e-cigarettes and follow guidance from the CDC".

Since the reporting of vaping-related lung injury cases has been mandated, the number of possible cases reported to DPH has risen, climbing from 83 reports on September 30 to 152 as of today, just two weeks later. The second patient had severe underlying conditions and is believed to have vaped unknown products in addition to nicotine.
Exclusive use of nicotine containing products has been reported by some patients with lung injury cases, and many patients with lung injury report combined use of THC- and nicotine-containing products.
The nature of the chemical or chemical exposures causing the lungs to be injured from vaping remains under investigation with the CDC developing better targeting methods to test chemicals in bodily fluids as well as validating testing methods of products used.
"It may be there's no one cause, no one causative agent, but multiple", Mitch Zeller, director of the Center for Tobacco Products at the US Food and Drug Administration, said at a recent news briefing. The vast majority of cases are people in their teens, 20s or early 30s, according to the CDC. Opponents of vaping sales bans have argued that new policies should target black market items rather than e-cigarettes as a whole.
The patients who died ranged in age from 17 to 75.
