Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan while congratulating his United Kingdom counterpart Boris Johnson on his appointment, raised the issue of Kashmir and the ongoing tension between neighbouring countries after India revoked the state's special status.
Qureshi, who arrived in the Chinese capital early Friday to hold consultations in the wake of India revoking special status of Jammu and Kashmir earlier this week, apprised officials in Beijing about Pakistan's concerns and reservations.
The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief, Gilgit-Baltistan governor, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) president would be added to Prime Minister Imran Khan's seven-member committee to recommend responses to developments in occupied Kashmir, a notification from the PM Office said. "It should be properly and peacefully resolved based on the UN Charter, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreement", the statement quoted Wang as saying.
In a series of Twitter posts, Foreign Minister Qureshi said he thanked his Chinese counterpart for a meeting on a short notice.
Wang Yi said his country will continue to support Pakistan in safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests and uphold justice for Pakistan on the worldwide arena.
