A maniac is on the loose after he gunned down two people with an AR-15 in the middle of Houston rush-hour traffic - and then bolted in his auto, sparking a manhunt, according to a new report.
Bobby Dobbins, an assistant police chief, told reporters that the shooting happened after two cars crashed.
The driver of the second vehicle - which has not been identified - got out of his auto and began firing a gun at the occupants inside the Nissan.
"The gunman followed the vehicle as it rolled backwards down the freeway, firing multiple rounds".

The suspects then fled the scene, heading east in their newer model gray, 4-door sedan. According to Dobbins, when the second auto came to a stop one of the men fired multiple times through the windshield, killing both the passenger and the driver.
Dobbins said that there were multiple witnesses that the police were interviewing.

Law enforcement sources told ABC 13 that a large garbage bag filled with marijuana was in the sedan. "Narcotics? We just don't know yet, so I won't speculate", Dobbins added during Thursday's press conference.
