The ex-Wigan Athletic, Sunderland, Hull City and Aston Villa boss is on the verge of becoming the new manager of Premier League side Newcastle United.

Bruce is expected to be brought to St James' Park as the replacement for Rafa Benitez - who left the club this summer after failing to agree on a new contract - and speculation Bruce has resigned from his post at Sheffield Wednesday has emerged on Monday.

According to the BBC, Bruce has now told Sheffield Wednesday that he will leave Hillsborough just five months after his first match in charge.

He may not be very good at appointing the right manager, only twice throughout his time as Newcastle United owner appointing men that were genuinely liked by the club's fans, but he knows how to give someone a job.

Bruce confirmed talks with Newcastle had taken place over the weekend and a deal isn't far off.

Post Balakot, Pakistan opens its airspace for civilian traffic
Till date, this IndiGo flight had to take the longer route over the Arabian Sea and make a stop at Doha in Qatar for refuelling. The national carrier had lost Rs 491 crore till July 2 due to the closure of the Pakistan airspace.

The Magpies have sold Ayoze Perez to Leicester and his strike partner from last season, Salomon Rondon is back at West Brom.

Newcastle have flown to China without a manager as they prepare to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League Asia Trophy in Nanjing on Wednesday.

"It has happened so quickly that I have got to take stock of the situation".

Bruce led the Championship club to safety last season. "There is nothing really to talk about until the two clubs reach some sort of a compromise".
