Mkhwebane's office has said that some of the criticism is aimed at undermining her investigations.
Absa has rejected Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's assertion that she subpoenaed the bank to provide bank account information relating to her investigation into President Cyril Ramaphosa.
"The president does not accept that the Public Protector has jurisdiction to investigate the CR17 campaign and to make any findings in relation to it", the submission read. His lawyers argued that the president had no relationship with Bosasa and did not know about the donation and as such, no conflict can exist.
The president then backtracked in a letter to the National Assembly Speaker, Thandi Modise, saying the money was a donation from Ago for his CR17 campaign.
The speaker must in 30 days refer the president's violation of the Code of Ethical Conduct and Disclosure Members' Interests to the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members.
South Africa's anti-corruption watchdog said on Friday that President Cyril Ramaphosa had "deliberately misled" parliament about a 500,000 rand ($35,900) donation he received for his 2017 election campaign for the leadership of the ruling ANC. In parliament late previous year, Ramaphosa said he was aware of the R500 000 his son had received from Ago, and said it was for consultancy work.
"Mr Watson in his response ostensibly stated that he has lied under oath while responding to questions posed to him, during his interview at my office on 18 March 2019", she said.

Germany's Merkel Criticizes Trump Comments on Congresswomen
Joining an global chorus of condemnation, German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Friday sharply criticized U.S. Pressed later on whether she feels solidarity with the congresswomen, she replied: "Yes".
It would only later emerge that the money was not given to his son, but to his ANC campaign.
Mkhwebane said she had considered the responses but chose to reject them, a fact that lead the president to say he would "apply his mind and decide on a way forward".
He also believed Maimane's question to be honest based on the facts presented to the DA leader.
In a report released on Friday, Ms Mkhwebane said "although President Ramaphosa may have justified to correct the earlier statement on erroneous or incomplete information at his disposal, he indeed misled Parliament".
On Ramaphosa's donations, Mkhwebane said according to her investigation, over R191-million was deposited into the CR17 trust account between December 6 2016 and January 1 2018.
"It is unfortunate, however, that from a cursory reading of the final report, it seems that the President's response to the Section 7 (9) notice has not been given due consideration".
