Cnet confirms as much in its hands-on article of the just-announced device. The Nintendo Switch Lite is a smaller, cheaper version of its bigger brother. Some Switch games benefit from using a Joy-Con in its horizontal configuration, giving it a layout similar to traditional NES and SNES controllers. Labo is designed as a family-friendly set of cardboard peripherals you make yourself.
The Nintendo Switch Lite is launching - in the United States, at least - on 20 September priced at $199.99, $100 less than the original Switch. It is not compatible with a dock and can not be connected to a TV, and the love-it-or-hate-it kickstand on the back is gone. The Switch Lite will be available from September 20. The new device will play all games in the existing Switch library. That's good because the Switch Lite is a handheld-only console.

At launch, you'll be able to pick up the system in yellow, gray, or turquoise. Since the controllers are not removable and this console is handheld-only, motion controls won't work. It seems that battery life has received a bit of a bump, with Nintendo estimating that the Switch Lite can last 3-7 hours depending on the game - with Breath of the Wild specifically, Nintendo says players can expect approximately 4 hours of battery life out of the Switch Lite, whereas that estimate is 3 hours for the Switch. Apart from IR motion controls and HD rumble, the Switch Lite retains all the features of the main console, such as WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, game card slots, a headphone jack, and gyro controls. The Switch Lite measures 91.1mm x 208mm x 13.9mm and weighs 275g while the Nintendo Switch measures 102mm x 239mm x 13.9mm and weights 297g.
The touchscreen portion is slightly smaller as well-it measures 5.5 inches, compared to 6.2 inches.
You'll be able to play almost all your Nintendo Switch games on your new Switch Lite - almost, not all.
