The Will County Health Department reported a fourth mosquito sample tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The patient has recovered and is a man between 61 and 80 years old, the department said. In 2017, the state had 63 cases with two deaths.
"Right now we are seeing twice as many mosquitoes testing positive for West Nile Virus as we have seen in a long time", Sunenshine said. Humans are infected through a mosquito bite.
This is the first WNV case reported for this year.
