Today, it was revealed Brandon Routh and Tyler Hoechlin will both reprise their roles as Superman in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. While Hoechlin has suited up as the Man of Steel on Supergirl, Routh - known in the Arrowverse as Ray in DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow - last wore the cape in the 2006 film Superman Returns.
The online trade says Routh (who plays Ray Palmer/the Atom in CW's shows) and Tyler Hoechlin will both portray Superman in different time frames during the event. His version of the Man of Steel has been featured a few times in Supergirl and has played into previous crossover events in the Arrowverse as well. It's not that I completely dislike what's happening withArrow, The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl, but it's a lot to keep up with.

The CW has confirmed that the five-hour Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover will air over two quarters.
It is unclear in which part (s) of the crossover either will appear.
The news will likely be made official at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, where fans will learn more about Crisis On Infinite Earths. The heroes and villains from the various Earths eventually formed an alliance and defeated the Anti-Monitor. Set in the year 2020, Kingdom Come follows an older Superman as he attempts to rein in a new generation of reckless vigilantes and inspire them to adopt the ideals of past superheroes.
