After her son was pulled off the top of the slide during recess, the school singled her son out and separated him from other students so they could watch him closer.
"I can't go eat lunch with my children", she said. "I regret the way I did it".
A U.S. mum who stormed her child's school class in a desperate bid to end the bullying her son was experiencing has been charged.
"Picking becomes bullying really quickly nowadays, and I've taught my kids not to tolerate it, so before something transpires could you address it", Rathburn said in an email to her son's class teacher, reported the Greenville News. "If they wanted to continue then I needed to talk to their mommas because the school wasn't doing anything".
The investigating deputy said she "lifts her finger in a pointing manner and circles around as if making sure all the kids heard her and were listening". "It is our opinion that the appropriate reaction to unhappiness with a school response is to have a conversation with the adults in charge ... and not a hallway filled with eight and nine-year-old children".
The video has since been removed and Rathburn has apologised, but she is now banned from school grounds.
But she claims when the school suggested separating her son from the rest of the class, she reached boiling point. Brian Sherman, assistant to the superintendent for the school district, said that he could not comment specifically on the Rathburn case, but he told the paper that determining whether bullying happens can be hard to decipher, especially when kids provide alternative accounts of what happened.

- A mother from SC was arrested after entering an elementary school without permission where she says she was just trying to confront her son's bullies. After the incident, she posted a since-deleted video on Facebook and explained her actions.
In an interview with Greenville News, Rathburn apologized for her emotional outburst, but said she did not know when else to do.
"There were several different students over the course of the year who he did not get along with or weren't the nicest kids in the room or said something unkind", said Brotherton.
It was unclear whether her son's bullies were ever punished and the school wouldn't provide her with documentation of his situation, citing privacy concerns since the reports may involve other students, she said.
"I dont know when it's time to protect [my] child's mental health, but I think [doing something] now before something bad happens is better than five years from now when something bad has already happened". "My actions were wrong whether it was for the right reason or not".
In the meantime, she's getting her documents in order, setting up a donation campaign for her legal fees and trying to find a lawyer to help.
She was released on $1,000 bond and her next court date is set for June 18.
