The company hasn't provided details about the nature of the problem other than to say, "in a limited number of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units, the battery may overheat and pose a fire-safety risk".
Affected customers will have their batteries replaced without cost. Choose About This Mac from the Apple menu () in the upper-left corner of your screen. There is a risk the computers contain a battery that could overheat and become a fire risk. The recall just concerns 15-inch Pros. Customers are encouraged to check online to see if their laptop is eligible for a free battery replacement. Confirm your model is "MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)".
Be prepared for the replacement to take one to two weeks, and make sure to backup all data before passing off your machine to the Apple team.
