At least three tornadoes are believed to have caused severe damage on Monday night in western OH, including one in the city of Celina, north of Cincinnati where one man was killed and seven others were injured, Mayor Jeff Hazel said.
Severe storms and tornadoes left a massive trail of destruction resembling a "war zone" across OH and IN, with at least one person dead and dozens injured, authorities said Tuesday.
Outbreaks of 50 or more tornadoes have happened 63 times in USA history, with three instances on record of more than 100 twisters, said Patrick Marsh of the Storm Prediction Center.
He says National Weather Service crews were heading to the affected areas to determine if tornadoes caused the damage, or high winds. Winds were so strong that residents said a auto was picked up by the storm, and windows were knocked out due to powerful winds.
Some of the people treated at the area's Kettering Health Network hospitals were hurt during storm clean-up itself, while others may have waited before seeking treatment from storm injuries, said spokeswoman Elizabeth Long. More than half of those were in Ohio's Montgomery County, where Dayton is located.
"We have homes flattened, entire apartment complexes destroyed, businesses throughout our community where walls have collapsed", Hosford said. One person was killed and at least 130 were injured.
Flooded areas of Arkansas and Oklahoma were bracing for more rain that will feed the already swollen Arkansas River, forecasters said on Monday.

NEWS Wilmington, Ohio, reported it had suffered a tornado "with winds up to 140mph in Trotwood in Montgomery County Ohio" and it was in the process of confirming if this was the same storm that had ripped through Beavercreek in Greene County.
Snowploughs were sent out to clear debris from a major highway.
"Just before midnight, and less than 45 minutes after that tornado cut through, the National Weather Service warned another one was traversing the same path, churning up debris densely enough to be seen on radar", adds the article. Fire Chief Jeffrey Payne called that "pretty miraculous", attributing it to people heeding early warnings. In nearby hard-hit Brookville, where the storm tore off the school's roof, classes were canceled.
A boil-water advisory was issued after the storms knocked out power to the city's pumping stations, and Dayton Power & Light said 64,000 customers were left without electricity. The shelter that was set up at Trotwood High School is being relocating after the school lost power.
In Madison County, NWS says an EF-2 tornado caused damage to the Pendleton and Huntsville communities.
Residents in Pendleton, about 56 km northeast of Indianapolis, were being urged to remain in their homes Tuesday morning because of dangers posed by fallen trees, downed power lines and utility poles that were also blocking roads. No serious injuries were reported in the area or other parts of the state.
An update on the tornado damage will be given at a press conference being held at 7:00 a.m. EDT Tuesday at Dayton's City Hall. I know they want to get outdoors, and I know they want to see what's going on in the neighborhood", Harmeson said, "but we still have power lines down. "We still have hazards out there".
