It seems that US President Donald Trump's legal woes are about to get worse as Democrat lawmakers in the US Congress have sent letters to individuals and entities connected to the US President demanding information from them. He has tried to fire Mueller - and was only thwarted when the White House counsel at the time threatened to resign. These include staff at the White House, the Justice Department, senior campaign officials who worked with Trump during elections, Trump Organisation officials and Eric Trump, the President's son.
"There's nowhere to go with this; they know that an impeachment either leads to defeat... or success, which is going to give them [US Vice President Mike] Pence", he added.
Trump delivered a rambling two-hour address at CPAC on Saturday, attacking a range of opponents and saving special vitriol for the Mueller probe and Democrats investigating his inner circle, private business dealings and presidential conduct. At that time, Republicans said, over Democratic objections, that there was no evidence to show that Trump's campaign colluded or conspired with Russian Federation.
Nadler said his investigation will go beyond allegations of the Trump campaign's collusion with Russian Federation, even if Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating the allegations, proves there were links between the Trump election campaign and Russian Federation.
Asked if he believed the President obstructed justice, Mr Nadler said, "Yes, I do".
If significant evidence is found it could form the basis of an impeachment effort of Trump by the Democratic-controlled House, though Nadler and committee aides have reiterated that they begin their inquiry without that outcome specifically in mind.
It's an open question, of course, how long most Democrats can ignore the elephant in the room in a race that revolves nearly entirely around Trump.
Obama easily won seven of the region's counties in 2012, but Trump won them all in 2016.

According to ESPN's Basketball Power Index , the Lakers' chance of a playoff berth is less than 1 percent. Anthony averaged 13.4 points in 10 games with the Rockets.
Democratic presidential candidates so far have not focused on the investigation on the campaign trail.
"Here's the obvious truth: There are more Democratic voters in Franklin County than Republican voters", he said.
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren said in a statement last week that she would not pardon anyone prosecuted as part of Mueller's investigation should she be elected.
"For the Democrats to interview in open hearings a convicted liar & fraudster, at the same time as the very important Nuclear Summit with North Korea, is perhaps a new low in American politics and may have contributed to the 'walk.' Never done when a president is overseas". "We're going to check" - these people are sick".
"The whole thing's ridiculous", Ernstmeyer said.
In a bar in Reedsburg, diehard Trump supporter Gary Steinke, 72, predicted Democrats would be relentless in making an issue of the report's findings.
"Oh my God yes, of course the Democrats will overreact and overhype this", she said.
"We don't have the facts yet", Nadler said.
Bartender Mary Schlough, 53, a Democrat who does not like Trump, said she believed most Democrats also wanted the report done with. "If he's guilty, we don't want him in office".
