Pilot, 4 Americans killed in helicopter crash in Kenya

Four Americans and a Kenyan pilot were killed when their helicopter crashed shortly after taking off from a remote island in Lake Turkana in a national park in northwest Kenya, officials said.
The helicopter crashed at Central Island, a volcanic island on Lake Turkana, Kenya's national police said in a statement.
According to news reports, the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi identified three of the other victims as Anders Asher Jesiah Burke, Kyle John Forti, and Brandon Howe Stapper. The embassy refers further questions to Kenyan authorities.
Two of the four American tourists killed in a helicopter crash in Kenya were from San Diego, a family member confirmed Monday.
They were headed for Lobolo Camp on the mainland.
There was no immediate information on the cause of the crash, but the Police Spokesman said an investigation had been opened.

The wreckage was found by rescuers on Monday morning.
The deceased, Captain Mario Magonga, was a relative to Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka.
"The able helicopter on landing alerted the KIDL operations team, search and rescue was activated in conjunction with all relevant authorities", a part of the statement read.
The late captain has has been described as a pilot "with exceptional flying skills", with Mr Onyonka, his cousin, saying he had been cleared to flying high-profile guests, including former US President Barack Obama. "The only thing we know is he was the one flying the helicopter", said Onyonka.
