An nearly 13-foot, 700-pound alligator found in Sumter County, Georgia may remind you that dinosaurs are still living among us.
According to Howze, the alligator was 13 feet 4 inches long, with an estimated weight of around 700-750 pounds.
A wildlife biologist found the alligator on February 18 with several old gunshot wounds and in poor condition, the report stated.
DNR leaders said the alligator had been there for a week and was in rough shape, so it had to be euthanized. They have also been found in ditches, neighborhoods, drainage canals, roadways, golf course ponds, and sometimes in swimming pools.
However, local newspaper Cordele Dispatch sought to quell the rumours last Thursday. "I'm the one in the picture, and you can probably tell that I didn't get too close to it".

When Howze and the team arrived they were expecting to find it to be no more than 3m (10ft) in length, but when they finally got it out and measured it they found it had a chest girth of a whopping 1.5m (4'9ft) and weighed 317kg (700lbs).
Alligators of this size are rare, though unsurprising, as male alligators are known to be able to reach up to 4.2m, he added.
"Without them, this would not have been possible", Howze said of Rhone and Jenkins. They can only grow to be as large and live as long as the one they found by avoiding people.
The gator was picked up by about three people Monday on the West side of Lake Blackshear off Stathem Lakefront Road in Sumter County.
