A former acting Director of the FBI has confirmed reports that officials of the US Justice Department discussed invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office when he fired FBI Director James Comey because of suspicion that he (Trump) could be a Russian stooge.
"I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russian Federation case on absolutely solid ground in an inedible fashion so that were I removed quickly or reassigned or fired, the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace", McCabe says in the excerpt.
CBS released an excerpt of the interview Thursday.
Pelley said McCabe disputes the assertion, advanced by defenders of Rosenstein, that the deputy attorney general was not serious about wearing a wire.
Asked on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday whether McCabe should be charged - as some Trump associates have - with lying to investigators, Democratic Representative Adam Schiff said prosecutors must make an objective determination.
The Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Lindsey Graham, called on McCabe to appear before the panel to "answer questions about what appears to be, now more than ever, bias against President Trump".
However, Mr. McCabe countered the deputy attorney general's account, claiming that Mr. Rosenstein brought up the idea several times and even met with Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyers to discuss it. Around this time, Trump was in an escalating war with words with Kim, including his famous "fire and fury" threat.

He has improved a lot in that, because he got his team defending better and pressing better, attacking better". He said this was not in discussion and part of my game, even in the hard moment. "Maybe he adapted.

Saudi Crown Prince Arrives In Pakistan To Kick Off Asia Tour
This is the first official visit of the dignitary to Pakistan since his elevation to the position of Crown Prince in April 2017. Two senior Pakistani officials said the crown prince was likely to meet Afghan Taliban representatives in Islamabad .
Other now-fired FBI officials, such as James Comey and Peter Strzok, helped transform the FBI into a political weapon to sabotage the president through the baseless Trump-Russia investigation.
McCabe also said in TV interview clips aired on Thursday that Justice Department officials discussed which Cabinet officials might be sympathetic to removing the president, using the authority of the 25th Amendment to the Constitution. Rosenstein disputed the account, and a Justice Department official said he made the remark sarcastically. He also repeated many of his past criticisms of McCabe, who he says helped start the "Russia hoax" and was biased in favour of Hillary Clinton.
Vice President Mike Pence also took aim at McCabe's interview, telling NBC News' Andrea Mitchell that he "never heard of any discussion of the 25th amendment, and, frankly, I find any mention of it to be absurd".
The report shows McCabe lied on multiple occasions under oath and to inspector general and FBI investigators about the FBI's criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton, the FBI's investigation into the Clinton Foundation and more.
As to the specific portions of this interview provided to the Department of Justice by 60 Minutes in advance, the Deputy Attorney General again rejects Mr. McCabe's recitation of events as inaccurate and factually incorrect.
'The president may have been engaged in obstruction of justice in the firing of Jim Comey'.
When that story became public previous year via a news report, Rosenstein was embarrassed and feared for his job. On May 16, one day before the appointment of the special counsel, Rosenstein met with Trump and Mueller. The 25th amendment outlines the process by...
