Recently, a controversy arose over photos of BTS member Jimin wearing a t-shirt commemorating the day that Korea was liberated from Japanese colonial rule in 1945. "However, we made a decision to postpone their appearance this time", said TV Asahi in a statement published online. TV Asahi's 'Music Station Super Live', another year-end special scheduled for this December, will ultimately carry on without inviting BTS to the event after deliberating on the matter.
The seven-member boy band, who have built a huge global following since they formed in 2013, were due to appear on TV Asahi's flagship Music Station show on Friday evening.
A picture of Jimin wearing a T-shirt depicting the U.S. atomic bombing of Japan, which killed hundreds of thousands of people, starting being shared online.
"We apologise for disappointing fans who were looking forward to this".
BTS apologised for the cancellation but made no reference to the T-shirt.
The t-shirt appeared to reference the end of the Japanese occupation of Korea, which ended in 1945 after the U.S. dropped two atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
I can never accept the act that #BTS member wore the atomic bomb T-shirts humanely.

The shirt is still available for purchase online.

BTS member Jimin reportedly wore the shirt a year ago, on Aug 15, when Koreans celebrate the end of Japanese occupation in 1945.
