Taylor Swift breaks record for most AMA wins by female artist

Taylor Swift exhorted Americans to "get out and vote" in the forthcoming United States midterm elections as she broke Whitney Houston's record as the woman to have won the most American Music Awards. They came together for the explosive finale, and earned a standing ovation from the crowd including G-Eazy, DJ Mustard, and actor Taran Killam, whose jaw was on the floor. She took home the trophies for Tour of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Album for "Reputation", Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock and Artist of the Year - bringing her career total to 23 AMAs. She thanked her team, husband Offset, and daughter Kulture in her speech.
Receiving the award for artist of the year, Swift said: "Thank you so much for this". To say it goes off is an understatement.
Cardi B, who won for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, delivered her first post-baby TV performance with her hit "I Like It", featuring J Balvin and Bad Bunny. A salute to Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin will include Gladys Knight, Ledisi and CeCe Winans, and with a movie bio-pic soon to open, Queen will be remembered with a rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Panic!
