Allen threw for 84 yards and ran for 20 before being replaced by Nathan Peterman.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen was ruled questionable to return after suffering an elbow injury in the third quarter against the Texans on Sunday, the team announced.
Bills coach Sean McDermott said after the game that they were still evaluating Allen's injury. The first one was returned 28 yards by Jonathan Joseph for the winning touchdown with 1:23 left in the game. McDermott saw some good things from Peterman but was disappointed with his turnovers. While Peterman did lead a go-ahead scoring drive that ended with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Zay Jones early in the fourth quarter to put the Bills up 13-10, he was picked off twice after that.
"I got to put the right guy out there that I feel is best for our football team", McDermott said Monday. "I don't want to paint it all bad, but we've got to protect the football and make sure we're smart".
"The Bills signed the 35-year-old Derek Anderson on Tuesday with plans to have him mentor Allen".

During pregame warm ups, quarterbacks and wide receivers usually work on routes so they can develop more rapport before the game starts.
Benjamin told the media the report of him not wanted to run routes with Allen was "misinformation".
Benjamin refuted the details of the story. "That's just somebody trying to take something and run with it and try to get their name out there". Watt has played well in his return after playing just eight games combined in the previous two seasons because of back surgery and a broken leg. He's averaging 12.9 yards per reception.
"Sometimes the ball can come out a little bit quicker, sometimes the play can be better, but we're all working hard to improve every area of the offense".
