The "Sober" singer was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles nearly two weeks ago following an alleged overdose but she was discharged from the medical facility on Saturday, August 4, and boarded a private plane to an unnamed facility outside of California.
"I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction", the 25-year-old Grammy-nominated recording artist wrote on Instagram.
The singer added, "What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time". "I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well". To my fans, I am forever grateful for all of your love and support throughout this past week and beyond. Your positive thoughts and prayers hsave helped me navigate through this hard time. "Without them I wouldn't be here writing this letter to you all", she wrote. Lovato has openly shared her obstacles with fans throughout her recovery. She closed with: "I will keep fighting".
After TMZ broke the story of Lovato's hospitalization, claiming it was due to an overdose of heroin, a statement from her representative on behalf of her family, issued July 24, appeared to contradict that initial report. The paramedics reportedly administered Narcan, an antidote used for opioid overdoses.
Demi's post came as it was reported that she was set to leave hospital this week and enter a rehab facility.

The news comes just one day after the star addressed her overdose for the first time.
In late June, Lovato released a new single, "Sober", in which she admitted to breaking the six years of sobriety she marked on March 15. News also confirmed that Demi has been discharged and is in rehab.
Sources also told CNN that Lovato had been experiencing complications, including "nausea, vomiting and a high fever", and is expected to seek drug rehabilitation treatment following her hospitalization.
