Donald Trump was in direct communication during the 2016 presidential election with Roger Stone, a longtime adviser, who is likely the "unnamed person" in the indictments issued Friday morning by Russian Federation investigation Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
The indictment said a person in contact with a senior member of the Trump campaign communicated with Guccifer 2.0, and the conversation mirrors the Twitter exchange Stone had with the online persona. Ex-cyber worker charged with trying to sell stolen tech MORE acknowledged Friday night that he "probably" is the unnamed person referred to in special counsel Robert MuellerRobert Swan MuellerSasse: US should applaud choice of Mueller to lead Russia probe MORE's latest indictment against Russian intelligence officers.
Stone also said that the US had interfered in Russian elections 20 years ago and therefore were in no position to complain.
Stone told CNN by phone, "I don't think it is me because I wasn't in regular contact with members of the Trump campaign", although he was in contact with Donald Trump himself. This exchange is now entirely public and provides no evidence of collaboration or collusion with Guccifer 2.0 or anyone else in the alleged hacking of the DNC emails.
A self-described "dirty trickster" in American politics, Stone has taken credit for persuading President Trump to get into politics.
"As Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said today: 'There is no allegation in this indictment that Americans knew that they were corresponding with Russians". He denied that to the Washington Post.

Icelandic Whale Hunters Accused of Killing Endangered Blue Whale
The government of Iceland confirmed that "blue whales are protected under Icelandic law with their capture prohibited". Some have accused the company of using that loophole to deflect negative scrutiny of the killing.
On July 27, 2016, Donald Trump denied Russian Federation was the likely culprit in the email hacks, but also announced, "Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing".
The culprit that had been identified for months as alleged Russian hacker Guccifer 2.0, has been revealed to be a "fictitious persona" created after the Russian government was accused of hacking the DNC and DCCC. "But even if he was, my communication with him is ex post facto it happens weeks after the WikiLeaks have already published the Democratic National Committee emails and therefore collusion would have to be, would have to be chronological".
Mueller's team claimed the Russians posed as Guccifer and "communicated with USA persons about the release of stolen documents", though Stone is not named in the 29-page indictment.
"Leaking after the fact", Stone added, "impossible".
Just because Stone wasn't named, does not mean it would signal one way or another if he is being looked at by investigators, Epner said.
The indictment says that Florida elections officials were targets of the operatives, who worked for the Russian foreign intelligence service, the GRU.
