Acura didn't say how much the MDX hybrid version would cost, although it was a $1,500 premium previous year on comparably equipped models.
When equipped with the new A-Spec package, the MDX adopts a popular blacked-out appearance..
The 2019 Acura MDX returns to the lineup after a 2017 refresh and some tech upgrades for 2018.
In terms of exterior styling, the big news is the new A-Spec Sport Appearance package. Up front, the bumper cover is redesigned. Available exclusively with Acura's torque-vectoring Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®), A-Spec features a more athletic stance highlighted by exclusive half-inch wider 20-inch Shark Grey aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in low profile 265/45-series tires.
Speaking of finishes, the MDX Advance sports the same wider wheels, but with a machined surface. Acura also debuts new paint colors including Gunmetal Metallic along with four premium exterior hues called Majestic Black Pearl, Apex Blue Pearl, Performance Red, and Canyon Bronze Metallic.
The new A-Spec trim level is only available on MDX models equipped with all-wheel drive and adds $8,500 to those models.
The naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter direct-injected i-VTEC 24-valve V-6 engine is carried over from the 2018 MDX without any major changes. For the interior, the A-Spec upgrade brings sport seats trimmed in red or black leather with black Alcantara inserts, as well as contrast stitching, unique A-Spec gauges, sport pedals, and a thick-rimmed sport steering wheel.

Inside the MDX A-Spec.
All 2019 MDXs get standard 4-way power adjustable lumbar support. New features include available authentic Desert Olive Ash wood trim, high-contrast seat and door panel stitching, and contrasting front seat side garnishes.
The MDX offers the Technology, Advance, and Entertainment packages. A separate Entertainment package is available for Advance versions, but upgrades the display to 16.2 inches and adds a 12-speaker audio system.
This year, the V6 gains a standard automatic start/stop feature (previously reserved for the Advance package), which is improved for 2019 for faster, smoother operation.
The nine-speed automatic transmission returns as well, but Acura says it has been refined; under heavy acceleration or while in sport mode, for example, the vehicle will tend to start in first gear for a little extra punch. Pricing for the upcoming MDX Sport Hybrid has yet to be announced. Both the A-Spec and Advance package versions have a new 20-inch aluminum wheel design that is wider than before and wears more aggressive rubber measuring 265/45.
Acura is boosting interest in its MDX with a new-for-2019 MDX A-Spec model, which is on sale now priced from $55,795.
Perhaps the stiffest challenge to the Acura MDX is the related Honda Pilot, which costs less, but doesn't offer a hybrid version-yet.
