It was all about Ferrari at this year's Canadian Grand Prix and Sebastian Vettel sealed it with a victory. It's Vettel's fourth pole on the Ile Notre-Dame, but his first since 2013, when he was on his way to a fourth straight world championship for Red Bull.
A quick look back at the Canadian GP after Sebastian Vettel claimed victory in Canada ahead of Bottas and Verstappen.
New Zealander Brendon Hartley will start in 12th for Toro Rosso.
But Hamilton, so often the master here in Montreal, had to settle for fifth on a weekend to forget for the defending champion and his team.
Mercedes offered Hamilton the option of turning down his engine in the closing laps, but he declined, pressuring Ricciardo and getting to within a second of the Red Bull. Constantly going into that corner I was struggling to get the vehicle stopped, be it front locking, or rear locking.
Vettel sees another chance to honour the memory of Gilles Villeneuve, who died in a crash at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix, with a Ferrari win. "I don't think that the hypersoft is a good race tyre, so I'm a bit surprised that both of the Red Bull chose that".

Today I think we had a couple of small lock ups, but as you continue to push the setup there are areas that can be affected. Vettel set the pace throughout the Q3 top 10 shootout, posting a time of 1m10.776s on his first run to take top spot.

He admitted: "We were coming to Montreal expecting our auto to be really strong and we are leaving Montreal seeing that we haven't been where we thought we should be".
The day was less positive for two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, who was celebrating his 300th Formula One race.
It was clearly a strategic scrap as the teams were aiming to use the tyres in Q2 that would suit them best to start the race.
