A recent night on the town for Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife turned rather unexpectedly cumbersome, when the actor ended up intervening and saving a bicyclist from being beat up on a London street.
Cumberbatch, who has played the fictional detective in TV series "Sherlock" since 2010, has also starred in films such as The Hobbit, Avengers: Infinity War and The Imitation Game, where he portrayed British World War Two codebreaker Alan Turing.
"I went to turn down into Marylebone High Street and we saw four guys were pushing around a Deliveroo cyclist".
He then reportedly ran towards them shouting to the attackers "leave him alone" and his quick-thinking actions are believed to have stopped the cyclist from suffering serious injuries.
He then dragged the four men off the cyclist, and was nearly punched by the men, but managed to dodge the attack.
"I did it out of, well, I had to, you know".
Uber driver Manuel Dias said the cyclist was lucky and described Cumberbatch as a "superhero". The cyclist was spared serious injury thanks to Cumberbatch's intervention.
According to witnesses, he dragged the four muggers off the victim, who was in his 20s, after screaming at them to leave him alone.

Benedict is said to have then hugged the cyclist who told him he was "OK".
The driver said he grabbed one of the men and Benedict got hold of another and added the star knew exactly what to do. "He was very courageous", Mr Dias said.
"He did most of it, to be honest".
The four attackers were still on the run.
Cumberbatch, however, insisted he was not a hero.
The Sun reported that police confirmed they were alerted to an assault on a delivery rider.
He said: "I did it out of, well, I had to, you know". "Deliveroo riders are heroes - their safety is our priority and any violence against them is totally unacceptable".
Benedict Cumberbatch is a talented actor, but he isn't known as much of a fighter.
