In talks with Kim on Tuesday in Singapore, Trump committed to an open-ended negotiating process and said the USA would also suspend military exercises with South Korea.

"Wide-ranging and profound views on the issue of establishing new DPRK-US relations, the issue of building a permanent and durable peace-keeping mechanism on the Korean peninsula, the issue of realising the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula and other issues of mutual concern, as required by the changed era, will be exchanged at the DPRK-US summit talks", the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported in English. The US had sided with South Korea in the conflict.

Trump will also speak with reporters in Singapore before departing for home. Will this leader choose to advance his country and be part of a new world?

President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un conducted a comprehensive, in-depth, and honest exchange of opinions on the issues related to the establishment of new U.S. -DPRK relations and the building of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. And I said instead of doing that you could have the best hotels in the world right there.

The US president said he had, and would not retract his description of Mr Kim as "talented".

"I showed it because I really want him to do something", he said. "Think of it from a real estate perspective". Be the hero of his people? "The future remains to be written". "In the micro sense, it's about the families whose loved ones fought and died and have remained in North Korea".

The agreement said the two countries would co-operate towards "new relations", while the United States would provide "security guarantees" to North Korea. He said he would discuss it "at great length" at an upcoming news conference, and indicated it would be made available publicly. The US forces in South Korea, meanwhile, told Stars and Stripes magazine that it had not received updated guidance on cessation of training exercises, and "will continue with our current military posture until we receive updated guidance".

When asked if there was talk of pulling USA troops out of South Korea, Trump said the topic didn't come up. "I think he's going to start now", he said. "This is not about Dennis Rodman being the greatest person in the world, bringing the countries together", said Rodman, whose trip to Singapore is being funded by Potcoin, a Marijuana cryptocurrency.
