The fourth generation of the BMW X5 impresses with its wealth of innovations and represents the most compelling embodiment yet of the familiar Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) blueprint - the ability to venture off road combined with a talent for dynamic driving pleasure on it. In order to do this, we went to the BMW Plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina to see how the new BMW X5 is being built. By the end of 2018, the fourth generation BMW X5 will be available with the optional third row of seats with electric fore-and-aft adjustment. The new X5's wheelbase is also 1.65-inches longer.
Predictably, the styling is evolutionary in nature, with the exterior taking on a slightly tauter look and new detailing. At the front the new grille is a little closer to the new X7.
Apart from a fake air breather duct mounted behind the front wheel arches, the flanks of the new X5 go largely unadorned; there's a feature line that runs from the trailing edge of front wheel arch underneath the front door handles and kicks up halfway along the rear doors as well as a second feature line within the lower part of the section of the doors, but they're both very subtle. The side window graphic, meanwhile, continues with the same basic shape as that established by the first-generation X5 launched back in 1999.
Speaking of tech, it has all the toys you could ever want in a large posh SUV as BMW has crammed laser adaptive LED headlights, two-axle air suspension, dynamic damper control, all-wheel steering, active roll stabilization, dual 12.3-inch screens, and a new bigger head-up display.

Alfa Romeo to revive 8C, GTV by 2022
At least two are planned - a small SUV and a large range-topping flagship model, both of which will sandwich the Stelvio . The 2014-2018 plan targeted 400,000 annual vehicle sales by this year, up from 74,000 in 2013, with 8 new products.
We also looked at the design of the X5 and its features, and talk about some of the options offered.
The two diesel engine options will include a 400bhp unit in the M50d and a 265bhp unit in the xDrive30d. The most powerful version will be the X5 M with its twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8.
The 2019 X5 will get a range of four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines. While the diesel powertrain has not been announced, the 3.0-litre in-line six oil burner is likely to be the mainstay motor.
Called the BMW Live Cockpit Professional display, the digital cluster makes its debut in the X5 and it comes as standard fitment.
