Kushner, who serves as a senior adviser on the Middle East and other issues, was among many White House advisers who had been operating without approval for full security clearances.
Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner has a permanent security clearance after almost three months operating on a temporary and downgraded status, a White House official confirmed Wednesday, saying that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has found nothing in Kushner's past that would tend to recommend against it.
The security clearance process had not been delayed by the special counsel's investigation, said Kushner's lawyer, Abbe D. Lowell.
Lowell said Kushner answered all questions and "is looking forward to continuing the work the president has asked him to do".
Kushner's background check took more than a year. His clearance was suspended in February, however, as the White House faced blowback over the Rob Porter scandal.
Porter was forced to leave the Trump Administration in disgrace when his alleged domestic abuse of multiple women was revealed to the public. The future of Kushner's security clearance was uncertain after chief of staff John Kelly put an end to top-level interim clearances at the White House earlier this year.
According to a person familiar with the situation, Kushner was interviewed for a second time by the Mueller team in the second week of April.

"He has continued this complete cooperation, providing a large number of documents and sitting for hours of interview with congressional committees and providing numerous documents and sitting for two interviews with the Office of Special Counsel", Lowell said in a statement. This meant he was allowed to view classified information while his background check was pending.
"For that job, he would normally need top secret and SCI", Zaid said.
That hurdle caused part of the delay in finalizing Kushner's clearance, the official said Wednesday.
Kushner had to resubmit his security clearance form previous year because of foreign contacts that had been omitted.
Kushner had to file three updates to his national security questionnaire, a form that guides the Federal Bureau of Investigation background check and asks for information about a person's employment history, finances, family, travel and other matters.
Kushner attended a meeting in June 2016 with a Russian at Trump Tower during the campaign in an attempt to get disparaging information on Hillary Clinton, and he attempted to set up a "back channel" to the Kremlin during the presidential transition.
