The refund is valid on iPhone 6 or later models and on batteries replaced between January 1, 2017, and December 28, 2017.

Meanwhile, the court documents clearly show that Apple had an inkling that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were more likely to bend than any other phone the company ever released. It was discovered that Apple's software code included a feature which would trigger a performance degradation once the battery capacity fell below 80%, forcing users to either replace their phones or carry on regardless as the cause of the slow down was not being communicated to users. However, it does bring these iPhone owners in line with the $29 replacements now being offered throughout 2018. Apple have also begun to email eligible customers to inform them regarding the replacement credit.

The new $50 credit essentially extends the discount to iPhone owners who bought the battery replacements last year-something Apple hinted it might do in a letter to a USA senator back in February.
