Once on the scene, police located four dead males and two more men and a woman who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting happened in the Brooklyn borough of the city and at least three others were severely injured, NBC and other news outlets reported. The four men who died ranged in age from 32 to 49, NBC New York reported. He said the building was believed to be a "licensed" premise, but he had no further information. Shea said investigators collected "cards" and "dice" from the scene.
An NYPD spokesman says police responding to a call about shots fired just before 7 a.m. Saturday found four men dead at the scene. NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot F. Shea said at a briefing Saturday that two firearms have been recovered and more may be found.
At least three people suffered serious injuries. The gambling operation was unlicensed, but police had not previously received any complaints about the location, authorities said. Police said the incident does not appear to be gang-related.
