Governor Gretchen Whitmer today declared vaping a public health emergency. I was shocked to find out that a Governor can actually act like a dictator and ban the sale of any legal product.
Amidst the growing crisis that the multi-billion dollar vaping industry poses among smokers, MI has announced it will be banning the sale of flavored vaping products, making it the first state in the country to impose such a ban.
Officials have not determined what sickened the middle-aged adult, whether the product was contaminated or whether they may have added something to the liquid in the device after buying it, said Dr. Ann Thomas with the Oregon Health Authority. Others may contain marijuana or other substances. No one has died in the state from the illness.
According to the Ohio Department of Health, an alert was sent to healthcare providers last month asking them to report suspected cases of serious pulmonary illness "where the cause is unclear with a history of vaping".
Investigations continue into Ohio's additional reports of illness and no further information about them is available at this time.
There are plenty of questions that remain unexplained, but symptoms can start days, even weeks before presentation, and all cases consistently reported regular use of various vaping products.
Thomas said this July case fit the bill, leading the health authority to deem it potentially "Oregon's first in a national outbreak".Читайте также: Here's our best look yet at the Huawei Mate 30 Pro
NY officials are focusing their investigation on an additive used in black-market vape oils made from vitamin E.
Michigan's measure to prohibit flavoured e-cigarettes comes as youth use of vape products has seen a sharp rise in America in recent years.
U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden of OR said he will introduce legislation next week that would tax e-cigarettes in the same way as traditional cigarettes to reduce the appeal to teenagers who are increasingly taking up the popular smoking alternative. Health officials in the state have issued stern warnings to residents: Stop vaping immediately.
Advocacy groups such as the American Lung Association and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids said MI has taken "necessary and appropriate emergency action" to combat the youth e-cigarette epidemic.
While the cause remains unclear, numerous reports involve e-cigarette products that contain THC. "In fact, science demonstrates that flavors play a critical role in helping adult smokers quit deadly cigarettes", Mr. Abboud said, commenting on how Michigan's move will help create a black market.
Most experts agree the aerosol in e-cigarettes is less harmful than traditional cigarette smoke because it does not contain most of the cancer-causing byproducts of burning tobacco.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
