Los Angeles will not be negotiating a new deal with the running back - who is now holding out - during the season, general manager Tom Telesco told reporters Sunday.
"With the regular season now here, we have informed his representatives that discussions regarding contract extensions will be postponed until the conclusion of this season", Telesco said, per Gilbert Manzano of the Orange County Register.

Dallas prepping to play without missing Elliott: team owner
Elliott noted he wanted to be a Cowboys player for his career but understands the complicated nature of the business. Elliott has not been with the team during training camp as he continues his holdout while seeking a new deal.
"When, or if, Melvin reports", Telesco said, "he will play under his current contract". If Gordon can not find a team to do that and the veteran eventually reports to the Chargers, he's set to make $5.6 million under that fifth year option for 2019. Will Gordon return to the Chargers before the start of the season?
There is still a chance that either Gordon or the Chargers budge and Gordon plays the 2019 season in LA. He is seeking an extension that would pay him closer to what the NFL's top backs are being paid - upwards of $13 million per year. With contract talks at a deadlocked, the Chargers granted Gordon permission to seek a trade with another team on Saturday. The talented running back took a page out of Le'Veon Bell's book and opted to hold out on his team until they renegotiated his contract. The Chargers have offered a contract that would average around $10 million per year, but the sides have remained at an impasse.
