Chandrayaan-2 will then be entered into the fourth and fifth orbit of the moon on September 1.
ISRO tweeted that the duration of the maneuver was 1,190 seconds.
All spacecraft parameters of the 2.4-tonne box-shaped spacecraft Orbiter with lander Vikram and rover Pragyan inside it are normal, the Bengaluru headquartered space agency said in a statement on its website. "The orbit achieved is 179 km x 1412 km", ISRO said in an update.Читайте также: Hong Kong Leader Open to Dialogue, Vows to 'Stamp Out' Violence
Earlier on August 20, Chandrayaan-2 was successfully transported into the moon's first orbit by ISRO scientists. Now the next lunar bound orbit maneuver is scheduled on August 30, 2019. It consists of an orbiter, a lander and a rover. This mission will make India, the fourth country after Russian Federation, the United States and China to make a soft landing on the Moon.
According to the Indian space agency, Chandrayaan-2 will orbit around the moon for over a year over its north-south poles and will shed light on a completely unexplored region of the Moon.
ISRO Chairman K Sivan has said the proposed soft-landing on the Moon is going to be a "terrifying" moment as it is something ISRO has not done before, where as LOI maneuver was successfully carried out during the the Chandrayaan-1 mission.
"Looking at what happened to the soft landing around the world, we are saying that the soft landing success rate is only about 27 per cent". With this, Chandrayaan-2 was successfully inserted into a Lunar orbit. The rover, on the other hand, will roam area near the lunar south pole for around 14 Earth days, carrying out surface and sub-surface experiments. ISRO further confirmed that "all the systems of Chandrayaan-2 are healthy".При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
