Star Trek: Picard is set to have a big presence at this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, with some major announcements expected from the Star Trek Universe panel on Saturday, so be sure to watch this space and check in on the IGN SDCC hub over the coming days.
Ajala recently starred in the Syfy series "Nightflyers" and the USA Network series "Falling Water". That changed when executive producer Alex Kurtzman and showrunner Michael Chabon sat down with Entertainment Weekly to reveal key details about Star Trek: Picard.
"Because he's no longer in Starfleet, he no longer carries the weight of that behind him", Kurtzman said.
Arguably the panel Trekkies are anticipating the most, at 12:10 p.m., Sir Patrick Stewart will take the stage to chat about the highly anticipated "Star Trek: Picard" series. However, other than the image there were few new details about the show itself other than the same things we've been hearing for months. But it's an entirely different thing when you don't have an army behind you.

The Star Trek universe lifted the veil on Star Trek: Lower Decks for the first time, a forthcoming animated series set in the Star Trek world and developed by Rick and Morty headwriter Mike McMahan. Beyond that, Kurtzman also revealed that Picard will be serialized rather than episodic, like Star Trek: The Next Generation. "What we don't want to do is just throw in cameos", Kurtzman says. Have there been occurrences that force him to reckon with choices that he's made in his life? Despite the familiar character, fans should expect a different Picard in the CBS All Access show. Throughout "Star Trek: The Next Generation", Captain Picard worked to encourage peace between the Romulans and a wider galactic community. The two shows also share another commonality as well: They're both Syndicated, which means that as opposed to the episode-by-episode format that The Next Generation used, there will be a story arc that continues throughout the season.
When Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery ended, the crew had boldly gone where no man had gone before: the far, far future.
