A federal judge on Tuesday ordered R. Kelly held in a Chicago jail without bond on sex-related charges, saying that the R&B singer had failed to convince the court that he would not commit new crimes if released.
On Monday in Chicago, more than 100 separate filings were made public, including never-before-seen financials on Kelly. His arrest last week was on separate federal charges.
Leinenweber said that under federal law Kelly would have to prove that he was not a danger to the public and Kelly's attorney, Steve Greenberg, had failed to do so.
"We thought we'd get him out, but the judge saw it otherwise and we respect his ruling", Greenberg told reporters. "This risk is heightened by the defendant's fame and power", one assistant USA attorney told the judge, Harry Leinenweber, at Dirksen Federal Courthouse in Chicago. The filings also allege Kelly and his former manager Darrell McDavid paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to retrieve the videos. He has been incarcerated in Chicago's Metropolitan Correctional Center since agents arrested him near his home in Trump Tower early Thursday evening.
Best known for his hits "Bump n' Grind" and "I Believe I can fly", R Kelly faces a maximum prison sentence of over 190 years for the Chicago charges and decades more for those filed in NewYork. The federal charges filed last week are separate from the IL case. They said the videos feature "extreme close ups" of the singer's face.

When they recovered the videos, the indictment states that Kelly and his associates directed people to take polygraph tests to ensure they had returned all copies of the videotapes. Prosecutors argued that he should not be released.
The indictment, obtained by PEOPLE, stated that Kelly and his team - including managers, bodyguards and assistants - "traveled throughout the United States and overseas to perform at concert venues ... and to recruit women and girls to engage in illegal sexual activity with Kelly" as far back as 1999.
R. Kelly appears at a hearing before Judge Lawrence Flood at Leighton Criminal Court Building May 7, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois. He is already fighting sexual assault charges in IL that carry a prison sentence of up to 30 years.
During Tuesday's hearing, Greenberg suggested those co-defendants may have acted to protect Kelly and the revenue he generated, without Kelly knowing anything about it.
Kelly has vehemently denied allegations of sexual misconduct in the past. It includes charges of racketeering and violations of the Mann Act, which "prohibits transporting people across state lines for the objective of prostitution", the New York Times reported.
