In the Indian state of Assam, officials said floodwaters have killed at least 19 people and brought misery to some 4.5 million.
Floods in South Asia cause mass displacement and deaths annually, and the death toll and damage from the current monsoon season, which has just begun, is likely to increase in coming weeks.

Kathmandu: The death toll in floods and landslides triggered by the incessant downpour in Nepal has mounted to 65, with 30 people still missing, police said on Monday.
