A few airlines have shown confidence in Boeing's once best-selling 737 MAX jet since the fatal crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia, which killed 346 people.
Boeing on Tuesday said it received orders for 13 commercial jets during its second quarter, a 95 percent drop compared to the same time period previous year after the global grounding of its 737 Max aircraft.
Airbus is on track to overtake Boeing as the world's biggest planemaker as the USA company reported a slump in deliveries of new commercial jetliner deliveries following two fatal crashes involving the 737 Max.
American Airlines, which has already pulled the MAX off its flying schedule through September 3, had in April cut its annual profit forecast, blaming an estimated $350 million hit from the groundings. Output has since slumped to only 30 per month in the second quarter.
The plane maker hasn't delivered any MAX aircraft, the company's largest source of profit, since regulators banned commercial flights on March 13, days after an Ethiopian Airlines jet plunged into a field shortly after takeoff. Boeing delivered two jumbo 747s, the same number as in the first quarter and 10 767s, double the number it delivered in the second quarter of past year. "Our team continues to focus on safely returning the 737 Max to service and resuming deliveries of MAX airplanes", Boeing said in an emailed statement, according to CNBC. Boeing still lists the airline's 187 unfilled orders as active.Читайте также: Instagram will now ask you to think twice before posting profanities
"We wish the flyadeal team well as it builds out its operations", Boeing said.
Boeing disclosed in April that it has booked about $1 billion in charges related to fixing the plane.
While the company's stock is still up more than 8% this year, shares have dropped more than 20% from their peak in early March, shortly before the second deadly accident involving a Max.
The allocation of the new aircrafts to flyadeal follows from the agreement for a total of 100 aircrafts which flyadeal's parent company - Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation (SAUDIA) - signed during the Paris Air Show in June this year.
Delta will report its second-quarter results on Thursday.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
