The Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management and GNS Science are now assessing whether the magnitude 7.4 Kermadec Islands region natural disaster at 10.55am on Sunday morning has created a tsunami that could affect New Zealand.
The country's Ministry of Civil Defense and Emergency Management said in its latest advisory: "The beach and marine tsunami warning has been cancelled".

A DOC spokeswoman confirmed all seven staff based on Raoul Island were safe and accounted for.
The huge tremor struck near New Zealand's Kermadec Islands at about 11.55pm on Saturday (GMT).
The spokesperson said they were unsure of any damage on the island and staff would be assessing this.
