According to a report in India Today, Dhawan, who scored a sublime ton against Australia in India's 36-run win on Sunday (9 June) was hit on his left thumb during his innings against Australia, but continued to bat.
He looked in considerable pain but carried on to score 117 off 109 balls.
ESPNcricinfo is reporting Dhawan has gone to Leeds to undergo scans, and an update on his injury will be provided on Wednesday (NZT). He will, therefore, not be a part of team India during their upcoming group-stage matches against New Zealand, Pakistan, Afghanistan, West Indies and England. Dhawan didn't take the field due to the injury during the clash against Australia and Ravindra Jadeja fielded in his place for the entire 50 overs.
In such a case, BCCI will not name a replacement.

Trump Raises Possible Concerns Over Raytheon-United Technologies Merger Plan
The new company's name will be Raytheon Technologies Corp. - and it's expected to have almost $74 billion in annual sales. Even adjusting for the spinoffs, the combined market value of the merged company would be above $100 billion.
According to the sources, Shikhar Dhawan's possible replacement could either be Shreyas Iyer or Rishabh Pant. Wishing him a speedy, solid recovery and praying he's back with a bang super soon! The injury comes as a big setback for India, as the southpaw, considered a big-game player, has an impeccable record in ICC tournaments. The left-hander has scored six centuries in ICC tournaments.
Now its interesting to see whether KL Rahul will open again or will he be made to stay at No.4 only?
