While a year ago it seemed everything met or exceeded projections, this summer so far we have weekends that are huge hits - like the openings for "Avengers: Endgame", "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum", and "Aladdin" - or underperformers like "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" and now "Dark Phoenix" and "Secret Life of Pets 2".
The X-Men: Dark Phoenix actresses explained that they noticed their co-star wasn't in the best mood one day during filming, and so they convinced the stunt team controlling him with wires to make him perform the dance to the 1993 pop hit while he was suspended in midair. They are pooped out and can sit out on the latest comic book flick.
To understand what it was like living with split personalities, Turner studied real-world mental illness (schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorder), to best showcase Jean's internal struggle after absorbing the Phoenix Force during a mission in outer space. However, in the film, there is none of that context.
According to Forbes, the film could take around $32 million across the entire weekend, which would be the worst opening for any X-Men film. "More than Captain Marvel, you could see a lot of Civil War in that ending".
It constantly throws new elements at you and expects you to keep up with its nonsense plot. Perhaps the same can be said for general audiences, as well. So for all the people hoping that she as Lilandra Of The Shi'ar Empire, I'm sorry to disappoint you.

The U.S. trade deficit shrank in April, but the politically sensitive deficit with China moved higher. Trump has raised tariffs to 25 percent on $200bn of Chinese goods and has ordered Robert E.
Margot Robbie Believes That Birds Of Prey Will Be Rated R
I get what she's saying, but someone calling you a bombshell doesn't have anything to do with your personality. The actress will next be seen in the Quentin Tarantino movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood .
With this being Sophie Turner's first major film role, she certainly did not disappoint. That's clearly not something that Simon Kinberg, the director and writer of Dark Phoenix, understood. Photo Credit: Doane Gregory.
One of, if not the, most important question any superhero movie must answer is, "Who are the bad guys and what do they want?" It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we've come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet - one of their own. Movies like Logan or Deadpool are sometimes dismissed as true X-Men high points due to their tenuous connection to main-series continuity.
"The movie is about Jean evolving from this character into something else, and that's what Sophie did".
The film revolves around mutants including Professor Xavier Charles (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) who are divided over whether to save or destroy Jean Grey as her powers are dangerously out of control. Unfortunately, everyone else didn't really have anything to do. Another problem fans may already have with the film is the ending. That was also a bleak film, far more so than "Dark Phoenix".
Even in its final issues, the Saga takes generous moments to show how each X-Man reacts to their friend's transformation, her final choices, and their choice to stand by her. Claremont turns the romance between Cyclops and Jean up to eleven, to enhance the stakes of her slide into madness and the tragedy of her sacrifice.
