In March it was announced that Queen Elizabeth II had agreed to allow the Duke and Duchess of Sussex form their own new royal household, which coincided with them moving out of Kensington Palace and into their new home of Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate ahead of the birth of their son, Archie.
"These changes are created to best complement the work and responsibilities of Their Royal Highnesses as they prepare for their future roles, and to better align their charitable activity with their new households", Kensington Palace said in a statement.
In a statement on Thursday, the Palace announced that The Royal Foundation will continue to run without the involvement of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
British newspapers have speculated for months about rifts and feuds between the brothers and their spouses and some said the decision over the Royal Foundation was another example. "This is part of [the couples'] diverging paths, which hastened a look at the foundation".
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has suggested Meghan and Harry are likely to pursue charities inspired by Princess Diana as a "dynamic charitable duo".

Holzhauer reportedly got back to her and said, unfortunately, he wouldn't be able to make the walk, but he would make a donation. More recently, Trebek said that his treatment has been going well and that he is " near remission ".

Both couples will continue to work together on projects in the future.
"Kate and Meghan are very very different people they have different backgrounds but I think it's possible as they grow older and have families and children and find different roles, they will come back again".
The name arose after the four took to the stage together at the first - and so far only - Royal Foundation forum in London in February 2018.
The foundation said the royals were "incredibly proud" of their joint work.
"You saw the way they interact and how they bounce off each other and have a natural passion and commitment to the work and to making a difference", she said.
