A spokeswoman for the family of a slain Chicago woman whose baby was cut from her womb with a butcher knife says the infant boy has died.
Yovanny Jadiel Lopez died at Christ Medical Center in suburban Oak Lawn from a severe brain injury, according to a statement posted on Facebook by family spokeswoman Julie Contreras, who expressed "great sadness" in announcing the baby's death.
Police have said Ochoa-Lopez, a high school student, went to Figueroa's home at least twice this year after connecting on a Facebook group for mothers, where the teen accepted Figueroa's offer of baby items.
"Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this hard time", the statement requests. Clarisa Figueroa's boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, 40, was indicted on a charge of concealing a homicide, WLS said.
Later that day, Clarisa Figueroa called 911 claiming that her newborn baby wasn't breathing.
"Words can not express how disgusting and thoroughly disturbing these allegations are", Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told reporters at a news conference to announce the charges about three weeks after Ochoa vanished on April 23. Police said the baby suffered severe brain damage and was unlikely to survive.
Ochoa-Lopez, 19, was discovered dead on May 15, three weeks after she'd gone missing just ahead of her due date.

Ochoa managed to get her fingers under the cord around her neck before the woman strangling her, Clarisa Figueroa, yelled at her daughter, "You're not doing your [expletive] job!" according to Murphy.
"I would like to offer my honest condolences and prayers to Marlen's family, who instead of celebrating the arrival of a new life into their family, are now mourning Marlen's loss, while at the same time caring for a new little baby that's in grave condition". In March, she and Ochoa connected on a Facebook page for pregnant women.
Then on April 1, Figueroa told her daughter that "she needed help killing a pregnant woman and taking a baby", Murphy said.
The baby had been in grave condition since the April 23 attack on his mother.
DNA tests determined Figueroa was not the mother of the baby and Ochoa-Lopez's husband, Yovani Lopez, was the father, Deenihan said.
"Words really can not express how disgusting and thoroughly disturbing these allegations are", Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said last month.
