Police are on the scene after a helicopter reportedly crashed while trying to emergency land on a high-rise building in midtown Manhattan.
The Fire Department said in a tweet Monday that the helicopter appears to have crash landed on the top of a tower at 787 Seventh Ave., which isn't far from Rockefeller Center and Times Square.
Casualties were involved with the helicopter, he said.
Governor Andrew Cuomo said preliminary investigation says that this may have been an emergency landing.
One person, believed to be the pilot, has died, according to sources.

He told law enforcement that he saw a bolt of lightning strike the man's helmet a second before the deadly crash. WOGX-TV says authorities confirmed the motorcyclist is a 45-year-old from Charlotte , North Carolina .

The BBC reports that Thursday will also see heavy rain push into Scotland with the south still affected by showers. Although Monday's forecast is largely for overcast cloud, by Tuesday heavy rain is thought to be setting in.
Video from the scene showed dozens of emergency vehicles with lights flashing. Thousands of people have been evacuated from the building. About 100 Fire and EMS units have responded, according to FDNY.
The FAA said it was gathering information about "an accident involving a helicopter that crashed into a building in Midtown Manhattan", and that it would post a statement as soon as it has confirmed details. Officials said the fire is under control, Cuomo said.
The fire has since been extinguished, the New York Police Department said.
