Honda's United Kingdom arm appears to have decided, with some delusion, that the 316hp, spoiler-clad Type R isn't anywhere near fast or striking enough, and has commissioned two fairly special one-offs. We'll get it out the way now; there are no plans to put either vehicle into production.
The second unveil is a unique project by Ralph Hosier Engineering that has given the Civic Type R credentials like never before. The power comes from the 2.0-litre VTEC TURBO engine that has been optimised and refined to produce 320 PS with peak torque of 400 Nm. "We're familiar with the race-winning FK8, however, we wanted to showcase what can be extracted from the vehicle with just a few light modifications", declared team manager James Rodgers. The company estimates that another month should do it, at which point it will start accepting orders from customers looking to own a Civic Type R rally monster. We are just trying to think of how much would Ralph push the road-spec Type R to make it a more convincing safari vehicle.
To help ensure the vehicle successfully applies this added performance to the road, the Type R has been fitted with Eibach Pro performance suspension springs, adjustable anti rolls bars and Dunlop DZ03G track day tyres too.
We ran the Honda Civic Type R as long-termer previous year.

The OveRland draws huge inspiration from models from the world of rally.
Recently unveiled by Ralph Hosier Engineering and Honda U.K., this hot hatch prototype features a generous lift of over four inches, along with some custom suspension work, and lightweight, rally-ready wheels clothed in some big ol' BFGoodrich All-Terrains clearly prepared to fling some dirt out behind the OveRland's hatchback.
According to Honda, the auto has been lifted by a huge four inches plus has been fitted with different rally components such as a bespoke trailing arm mounting, modified tranverse linkage and massive BF Goodrich tyres. It rolls on 19-inch Team Dynamics Pro-Race lightweight competition alloy wheels shod in sticky Dunlop DZ03G track tyres.
The full details of the build have not yet been announced as the auto is not yet finished.
